With reference to Sir Henry May'e Des-

1357 patch No. 1 of the 3rd. January, 1918, I have the honour to

recommend that a bonus at the rate of 8100 a month be granted to Commander C. W. Beckwith, Acting Harbour Master, in

respect of the year 1918.

Commander Beckwith has continued to perform to the entire satisfaction of the Government the greater part of the duties of Assistant Harbour Master in addition to those of his acting appointment. A considerable sum is lapsing in respect of the personal emoluments of the Department.
